22/11/2008 - LIVE SOUL & NIGHT OUT

If you're ready for a Saturday night of spine tingling soul and laid back CitySocialising then join us as we head to the popular 'We Got Soul' night downstairs at the Latest MusicBar (formerly the Joogleberry Playhouse) one of Brighton’s main live music venues.
Amongst the people who have performed there in the last few years are Amy Winehouse, The Kooks, Chris Difford (from Squeeze), Newton Faulkner, and some jazz greats from Larry Adler to Lianne Carroll.
Tonight at 'We Got Soul; night, we'll be treated to a special live performance by Foy Vance - there are various troubadours claimed as being ’something truly special’ but this fella really does embody the accolade. Considered by the Sunday Times as ‘an unbelievable voice..in the premier league of British songwriters’ - he is truly one of most important artists working in the industry today!
His debut album ‘Hope’ is impressively powerful, moving, honest, raw and sincere, and Vance’s one man show is a barnstorming tour to force…involving computers and loops, as well as such staples as voice and acoustic guitar… best observed, rather than described. Striding blues, soul, folk, gospel and roots with consummate ease and authority, his voice and delivery purrs effortlessly through the gears, by turns evoking ghosts of Otis Redding, Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison, Richie Havens, Tim Hardin and more.
And after this amazing live performance, we can stay on to enjoy late night soul dancing with DJs Soul Deep, until 2am!
With its funky crowd and great tunes it makes a fun and refreshing Saturday night out!
We'll be meeting first for drinks at a nearby bar XXXXX (full details available to view upon booking) where one of our hosts will be when you arrive to welcome you and settle you in to the evening.
We'll have an hour here to relax, chat, socialise and have fun getting to know everyone before heading over to Latest MusicBar at around 8pm.
No Dress Code.
Entry is £10 (includes free entry to soul party till 2am)
Maximum 20 places available. Add no-reply@citysocialising.com to your online contacts/address book to ensure you receive our reminder

23/11/2008 - DEVIL'S DYKE WALK & PUB VISIT

Blow away the cobwebs with us over a leisurely Sunday stroll, drinks, and some laid-back CitySocialising as we head up to Devil's Dyke.
Devil's Dyke is a popular spot for fresh air and some breathtaking views of the South downs, and the V-Shaped valley is the deepest dry valley in the world! According to a folktale, the devil was digging a trench to allow the sea to flood the churches in Sussex. The digging disturbed an old woman who lit a candle. This made the devil believe that it was morning already and he fled the site! ;-)
We'll be meeting up first at XXXXX (full details available to view upon booking) where one of our hosts will be, to welcome you when you arrive so you can relax, have fun and socialise.
We'll enjoy a coffee together (or something stronger if you fancy it!) in this beachfront location before taking the bus together from the pier up to Devil's Dyke.
And after a long walk along the Dyke we can head to the pub on Devil's Dyke or back in town for a Sunday afternoon drink and a spot of lunch for those that are peckish!
All bus fares and personal food and drinks will be payable by you (in cash) on the day.
Suitable waterproof clothing and stout shoes recommended.
Maximum 16 places available. Add no-reply@citysocialising.com to ensure you receive our reminder email.
